Marina Masso “Mosaic of Watercolours”
6th of June – 5th of July 2014
Marina Masso (b 1961 in Leningrad) is a watercolour artist living and working in St Peterburg, Russia whose roots are in Viljandimaa. She has studied painting, graphic art and ceramics in various art schools in St Petersburg. From 2004 she is a member of the Association of Watercolour Painters of St Petersburg. She mostly paints compositions of flowers and views of her home town.
Her watercolours of flowers are tender and warm. As she has worked for years as a painter in a porcelain factory she surely knows the rich world of flower compositions.
We at Kondas Centre especially enjoy her views of St Petersburg. Artists and writers tend to represent the “Venice of Northern Europe” as a dark and mysterious place. Masso’s picture tell us something different – for her it is a joyous, dynamic and a sunny place.
Marina Masso’s work appear in private collections all over the world. From 2005 she has taken part of the International Biennale of Watercolour Painters. As a member of the Association of Cultural Workers at her hometown she has taken part of various exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
