Anastasia Arhipova was born into an artist´s family in Moscow in 1955. Both her grandfather and father were book illustrators. She graduated from Moscow National Institute of Surikov in the field of graphic design in 1978. Already during her studies she worked with the publishing house „Children´s Literature.“ She has illustrated many of H. C. Andersen’s famous fairy tales such as „The Snow Queen“, „The Princess and the Pea“, „The Steadfast Tin Soldier“ and others.
From 1985 she has worked with different German publishing houses and her illustrated Andersen´s fairy tale books have been published in Germany, Brazil, Japan, Korea and China. Arhipova has received many important prizes in Russia such as the best illustrator of the year, and the best book of the year.
She was a member of IBBY Executive Committee in 2007-10. and has participated in book fairs in Bologna, Barcelona and Frankfurt. Her illustrations represent a classical style.
